Omega Sapien (real name: Jung Eui Suk) is the Frontman of Seoul’s Balming Tiger. Balming Tiger have drawn comparisons to Odd Future for their off the wall, colourful, pop take on rap music. On the Wuga EP, Omega joins forces with NYC hitmaker and DJ Baauer for six tracks inspired by Timbaland and Missy’s winning formulae, rebooted for the sonic landscape of 2022. “Wuga” is Korean slang for caveman; and even with futuristic features from Sega Bodega and Vernon of K-pop royalty, SEVENTEEN, these tracks grunt, fizz and pop with youthful energy. Omega Sapien is an important new voice and a hyped ‘one to watch’.
